The Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) was established in 1974 in order to promote national growth through academic development via cultivating world-class scholars. After establishment, KFAS selected excellent South Korean students, and prepared to send them to top institutions of higher education overseas. In addition, KFAS also offers a Classical Chinese Studies Program. KFAS has launched new international academic programs in 2000, to support famous experts from other parts of Asia to cooperate with South Korean scholars. Furthermore, KFAS also launched international programs like Asia Research Centers and International Forums, to increase mutual understanding and academic development in the Asian region.
